EFCO Products, Inc. seeks a Sanitation Engineer at its Smith Street location in Poughkeepsie, NY to perform the following duties:

  • Inspect food processing areas to ensure compliance with government regulations and standards for sanitation.
  • Check raw ingredients for maturity or stability for processing, and finished products for safety.
  • Design process to safely clean factory assembly line equipment that manufactures food.
  • Conduct research on different cleaning procedures and meet with production team to determine the safest, most environmentally friendly, and cost-effective way to keep equipment clean and manufacture safe products.
  • Identify safety issues and initiate corrections of food safety and quality problems; investigate potential contamination and suspicious activity reported by personnel.
    • Design departmental metrics and implement corrective/preventive measures for sanitation related processes and non-conformances. Metrics should demonstrate continuous improvement.
    • Ensure all Sanitation team members have adequate and documented training on SSOP’s as well as annual review and sign off.
  • Maintains routine plan for daily, weekly and monthly sanitation (Master Cleaning Schedule) in all parts of the plant.
  • Meet with management and production to understand priorities and develop budget for important projects.
  • Research, identify, and implement safe measures to save cost.
  • Continue to work on ways to clean more efficiently without compromising effectiveness.
  • Assist with training new technicians.
  • Maintains current SDS for any chemicals that are used within the Sanitation department.
  • Reviews all sanitation related procedures for accuracy and completeness and conducts audits to ensure procedures are followed.
  • Ensures compliance with Master Sanitation
  • Schedule and SSOP’s by utilizing routine observation. Ensure the Master Sanitation Schedule and all sanitation checks are properly completed daily.
  • Responsible for identifying gaps in the overall sanitation in the plant and determining changes needed to program and/or cleaning methods.
  • Provide operational support for manufacturing equipment.
  • Identify/recommend process changes.
  • Assure all sanitation associates are consistently trained in all required standards and expectations, including temporary team members.
  • Document and file all injuries occurrences and reports.
  • Work with the management team to maintain safe work practices for effective safety that result in zero recordable and lost time accidents and encourages safe work performance.

(Less than 10% domestic travel required annually)

REQUIREMENTS:

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field. The successful candidate will have (2) years of experience in a related position, and the candidate must also have experience in the food industry.

RATE OF PAY:                      $ 87,235.00/yr. - $105,000/yr.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive our tractor trailer safely and responsibly, fulfills all legal requirements.
  • Loads and unloads trailers with motorized equipment moving pallets up to 3,000 lbs. sometimes by pushing or pulling (possibly in an uphill position.)
  • Requires ability to hand-unload each item off pallets from ground level and wheel them on a hand truck.  Each item weighs from 20 to 55lbs. and occasionally, as much as 500lbs. on each hand truck load.
  • Cranks up or down the trailer dolly legs to hook or unhook from tractors.
  • When not driving the tractor trailers, drivers are assigned to warehouseman duties.
  • Move trucks between warehouse(s), freezer, and plant.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to count multi-tiered items.
  • Ability to analyze and complete documents.
  • Ability to communicate with all personnel including usage of phone system and two-way radios
  • Must be compliant with DOT Regulations
  • Forklift Certification.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Class A CDL License
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution
  • Ability to operate equipment.
  • Ability to stand or walk 100% of the time.
  • Ability to lift 50-100 lbs. and be present and fit for duty each day.

The Packaging Department Supervisor is responsible for supporting product packaging operations. The Supervisor will ensure that all products are packed safely and efficiently while maintaining a sanitary environment which meets all food safety regulations.

The ideal candidate will understand the set-up and functionality of all packaging equipment and will be able to step in as needed. Candidate will conduct huddle meetings at the beginning of each shift to ensure that the team is aware of the daily expectations, while fostering and maintaining a positive and collaborative team environment. Candidate will work with Management and Human Resources to ensure all employees are properly trained in all areas of responsibility. We are looking for an inquisitive and hands-on seasoned leader to join our fast-paced team.
