On October 6, 2009, ASI Food Safety Consultants conducted their annual audit at Efco Products Inc., located in Poughkeepsie New York.

The manufacturers of bakery mixes, fruit fillings, and toppings received an “excellent” rating of 98.29%. This combined with their past ratings of 95% or above, has earned them a “superior” ranking which is the highest distinction a company may receive from this organization.

The full day audit consisted of the inspection of their HACCP, Sanitation/Pest Control, Food Security, Allergens, GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices), and Traceability/Recall. According to ASI’s website, “ASI audits are more than just inspections. They are learning tools that ensure food safety in your facility preventing costly and publicized mistakes.” Any deficiencies found during an audit are quickly addressed by Efco. An aggressive corrective action is implemented to discover the root causes, and incorporate appropriate preventative measures.
